Support for themes

Before you start customizing your theme, ensure that you understand what level of support is available in each theme. In case if you’re making basic customizations, then you can get support from your theme’s developer. Where to find support for your theme

The support that you’ll get depend on the theme you select.

Free themes from Builderfly

If you’re working on a free theme from Builderfly, then our Support team might be able to help you with supported tutorials/videos and other small changes. Although Builderfly can help you with numerous customizations, some sort of customizations aren’t supported.

If you’re on the Basic Builderfly plan or higher, then you can receive 60 minutes of complimentary design support. Once you contact our Support team and state your request, you can expect to receive a status update within 3-4 business days.

Paid themes

If you’re using a paid theme from Builderfly, then your theme was made by a third-party theme developer. To find third-party support, you can view the support documentation for your theme, or contact the theme developer.

Builderfly design policy

Even though Builderfly support is able to support any basic customization related to your online store, please remember that Builderfly can’t help you with the below tasks:

  • Editing slideshows
  • Editing images
  • Adding color swatches
  • Adding a second add to cart button on the product page
  • Changing drop-down menus into buttons
  • Making a theme wider or narrower
  • Adding monochrome or grey scale payment icons
  • Editing the code for the checkout
  • Installing, removing, or modifying third-party apps
  • Customizing any free theme that has already had significant code changes

Page load speed

If you feel your online store loads slowly for your customers, then running a third-party online page speed test can help solve the problem. These tests can show whether it is the images, apps, other content, or a combination of the three that is slowing down the website.

Since each page on your website includes different content, it’s best to test all pages like your homepage, collection pages, blog pages and product pages to see where customers might be experiencing slower load times.
If you see that apps are slowing down your website, then take the following steps to help increase the speed:

  • Remove any unnecessary applications.
  • Consult your theme and app developers.
  • Hire a Builderfly Expert.

When Builderfly don’t support extensive customization, there are several other resources available for you.

Theme discussion Forum

The Builderfly Design forum give guidance on how to edit CSS, or HTML to customize your online store. If you require any help in editing theme files, then try posting your question in the “Builderfly Design” forum. You can also search through the postings to see what other Builderfly merchants are doing with their themes.

Forum for feedback on your store

You can even ask for guidance and feedback on fonts, colors, and other design decisions for your store from the “Feedback” forum.

Rich text editor

If you want help formatting your content with the rich text editor, then try installing an app to edit/modify the pages in your store.

Builderfly Theme Store

If you want help adding functionality to your theme, like image zooming, sidebar, an extra , or infinite scroll, consider trying a different theme instead of using a same theme.
